¡Happy Cinco de Freakin' Mayo!

No real news or posts recently, but figured I would let the two or three of you who follow this sparsely updated blog that I am indeed still among the living.

Explanation of the heading:
When I was a senior in high school (15 darn years ago!), for some reason a few of the crew decided to celebrate Cinco de Mayo by crimping our hair. (Having no experience with crimping, we had our myriad of female followers style our hair for us. Whatever chance we got for female attention, we took!) We all, with the exception of Mike (who has been the model of Mr. Clean Cut), had fairly long hair at the time so the crimping was quite fluffy. On the way to school, we heard on the radio the DJ yell, "Happy Cinco de Freakin' Mayo!" and it stuck. Each year, we all try to text, email or call each other first to wish each other "H.C.D.F.M." I do have somewhat of a competitive advantage, in that I'm in the Central Time Zone and wake up earlier than my Mountain Time Zone competitors. I'm on a 3 year winning streak, but those involved in the competition will claim that streak should be followed by an asterisk.

Life in Texas continues to be fabulous. I was able to take a canoe trip/service project with the scouts recently where we were given a free canoe trip down about 10 miles of the Brazos River (which is really pretty!) and clean out the trash in the river. I didn't know that so many people would throw tires into the drink. Lame! By the end of our trip, we had to pass some trash up because we didn't have room in the canoes for it. I made the error of not bringing sunscreen on the trip and turned the color of a roasted lobster. The boys made fun of me, due to the fact I had sunglasses tan lines - or burn lines, whatever you want to call them. Needless to say, I got a great start on my summer farmer tan.

Well, that's all the time I gots for today. See you later.

I will have you know, that I beat you this year. Yes, I had to wish you a Happy Cinco de Freakin' Mayo Eve, but still what else can I do?

About Me

I was born and raised in Utah, but then, after marrying the most wonderful woman in the world, packed up and moved to Texas. We love it here and have often told people it would take an act of God to move us from this place!
